Strength and Hope

I'd like to dedicate this blog to any woman fighting a battle, but most importantly to those who have had to fight and survive sexual assault and rape, this topic is normally shunned and therefore not enough awareness is given to it. Any woman who has had to endure the horror of this brutal act and has overcome and become stronger is a true surviver. Sexual assault and rape is a tragic and awful nightmare that any woman can experience and those who have had to experience it, have to fight the battle of overcoming it everyday. One of the strongest women I know has experienced this nightmare and though it's been years and years since this tragic act she still fights to overcome but everyday her fight makes her stronger and she holds all of my respect. So let us remember the teal ribbon and help to bring awareness for those women who have had and for those who are still fighting the battle of sexual assault and rape.

In a few weeks, I'll be getting this ribbon inked, to bring awareness and to show my love and support to the strongest woman i know and to let her know that she's never alone.

As women we are all in this together.

Much Love,

Monday Blues

The end of weekend blues have set in, in full force and this week is already looking like a long road to travel, so to help us on the twist and turns that this week is bound to take us on, here are some words to keep close to heart and in your thoughts, as we try to find our way towards Friday.

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Trains, Veils & Happy days

Today was my last bridal gown fitting before the big day. Every time I see that dress, I fall in love all over again, it was one of the first dresses I tried on and the only one I kept going back to. I adore it so much that I themed our entire wedding around it. A wedding dress is the only dress that could make a girl feel like a princess and make her realize that happy endings are real and that Disney didn't make that stuff up. So
bride-to-be's take your time, try on loads and make sure the choice is yours and only yours, trust me when you find the "one" you'll know it!
Here's some gorgeous gowns, that have the breath taking effect.

Vera Wang. Check out here new line White here

Val Stefani. Find the full collection here

Oleg Cassini. more here

Elie Saab. view this collection here

Allure Couture. see here for more.

I can't wait to put on my dress, fix my veil and start my happily ever after.

Mint, Rum & Weekend Lovin'

It's finally the weekend and what better way to unwind after a long week than with a nice tall glass of something cold and alcohol soaked. Mojito's are my drink of choice this weekend and it's looking to be a fabulous one.

What you'll need
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
2 limes, cut into wedges, plus more for garnish
2 cups crushed ice, plus more for serving
1 cup Lime-Mint Syrup, (recipe follows)
1 liter white rum
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
Club soda
Muddle the mint leaves and lime wedges with 2 cups crushed ice in the bottom of a large pitcher. Add Lime-Mint Syrup, rum, lime juice, and more ice. Top off with club soda, to taste. Pour into glasses over ice and serve. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and mint sprigs, if desired.

Lime-Mint Syrup:

2 cups sugar
2 cups water
2 limes, zested
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves

Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 1 minute. Remove from the heat, stir in the lime zest and mint, and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to infuse the syrup with the flavor of lime and mint. Strain out the mint and zest and refrigerate the syrup, covered, until cold.

Happy Friday.

Faded and Beautiful

I'm fascinated with any and everything vintage. It just amazes me to think that something that I'm now calling my vintage treasure was once something brand new. From the Jewelery to Furniture, items that had a past life simply make me smile. We're currently shopping around for pieces of art for our home and I'm looking out for that perfect faded, torn and well lived piece of artwork, something representing the high quality of a past time.
What a treat it would be to go back to a time where everything vintage was new and to see what stories these pieces of treasure have lived through.

There's something about this picture that makes me happy, maybe it's the lace or the beautifully carved chair or perhaps it's just knowing that love has always been around.

Ooh the sweetest thing

Falling in love is the most beautiful thing that a person can experience. Falling in love with someone, is giving your heart to that person and trusting them to keep it safe and as strong as that trust may sound there is something stronger, Falling in love with your soul mate..Falling in love with your soul mate, is giving your soul and heart to another soul who shares a connection to yours like nothing you've ever felt before, It is a feeling that cannot be explained and if I were to try to explain it, I wouldn't do it justice. It feels like you were together in a past life and have finally found each other again in a new one. Every day I thank God for allowing Anthony and myself to find each other again. I'm lucky and blessed to have found and fallen in love with my soul's other half.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.

Berries & Bubbles

Every bride is sure to get a case of butterflies on her wedding day, whether it be from the excitement of knowing she's about to start a new journey or the happiness of knowing she's about to star in her own fairy tale, those little critters will be fluttering, so i'm sure it will be comforting for her to know that there's something there to ease those flurries before that walk down the aisle. This is what I'll be sipping to calm those little wings from beating, on my day....
 Pomegranate white wine spritzer.
This amazing combination of berries and bubbles is the perfect balance of alcohol and sweetness, it's guaranteed to calm those flutters while ensuring you don't stumble down the aisle.

The how to..
1 cup white wine
                                                                      1/2 cup club soda
                                                                      2 tbs pomegranate juice
                                                                      1 wedge of lime

Combine the club soda and white wine, add pomergante juice and squeeze wedge of lime for a finishing burst.

...for an added special touch and nice surprise pop a couple blocks of fruity ice cubes into your glass, after all, this is your day.

                                                                     Fruity Ice Cubes

                                                                        The how to...

The night before your big day place a little fruity surprise, a cherry, blackberry, raspberry or even a piece of lavender or mint leaf into the bottom of the ice tray, fill up the trays with water and place in the freezer. When those butterflies start to flap their wings pop a couple of these in your spritzer and calm yourself with some berries and bubbles, I know that's exactly what I'll be doing.

Home sweet Home

We haven't even reached the half way mark on this year and it's already been a whirlwind of new experiences for me. My FiancĂ© and I, recently moved into our new place and it already feels like home, waking up to our high ceilings, having coffee on our balcony, the faint sound of food network in the background, as we cook dinner, It feels like all this house was missing was us. While having a glass of wine the other night we looked at each other and cheered to Happiness and home sweet home and in that moment I realized I no longer had to wish on shooting stars.

I raise my glass to anyone starting a new Journey, may it be filled with Love and Laughter as mine has.

Much Love,

Something New, Something Blue

Every bride should have her something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Each of these items are suppose to be good-luck tokens for the bride if she carries all of them on her wedding day. I took some time before deciding on what I wanted my "lucky charms" to be, I wanted them to have a story behind it because after all their my treasures and all treasures should have meaning. Here's some idea's that I thought were simply unique, a wedding doesn't always have to be traditional.

Arriving in a vintage car instead of a traditional limo is the perfect something old.
Most brides allow their dress to be their something new but why not let your hubby-to-be pick your scent for that day, it would be the perfect something new secret for you both to share.
A vintage brooch is the most elegant item that a bride could borrow.
What better way to show off your something blue, than with the perfect pair of heels.

36 more days to go! and I can hardly wait.

Lace, Roses and I do's

"Everyday of our life, is a page of our history". I pretty much live by that saying and so with that being said, I guess I'm about to start a whole new chapter. In less than a month I'll be changing my name and saying
"I do" to my best friend. For the past few months I've been, eating, sleeping, and living wedding plans. Every girls story should start with an Once upon a time and end with a happily ever after, I know mine sure has.

My wish for every girl, is to find love and happiness like I have.
